I normally don’t do such things, but i’m so dang excited that I’m going to break my own rule. 😂

These fall ball games are designed for the coaches to get a look at (primarily) new players in game conditions. Some of your starters may sit out and in their place freshmen and/or transfers may play.

So with that being said, the Hokies found themselves on the wrong end of a 7-2 score entering the bottom of the 7th.

A walk, an error, a double by JMU transfer Kelsey Brown and suddenly it’s 7-3 with the bases loaded and two outs. Coach Pete inserts Al Velazquez as a pinch hitter and she blasts a bases clearing double to make it 7-6. Kate Kobayadchi gets hit by a pitch to become the potential winning run and Freshman Ansley Whitley hits a ball in the gap that bounces over the fence for a ground rule double that ties the game and puts the winning run on third. Another freshman, Georgia Blair ends it with a solid base hit and sends the orange and maroon crew home happy!!!
